Our friendly orthodontists have a great deal of knowledge and expertise. Drs Rootkin-Gray and Huntley have been practising orthodontics for a long time, but they still make it a priority to keep up to date on the latest orthodontic techniques. And their breadth of experience means that, when you visit our practice, you’re with a skilled team that will put your needs first.

Dr Virginia Rootkin-Gray

Virginia is a Registered Specialist with the General Dental Council. She joined Orthodontic Excellence in 2007. She has vast experience in Invisalign™ and SPARK™ treatments. She works with fixed appliances, creating effective treatment plans for complex interdisciplinary cases.

Keen to lead the very best innovative, advanced techniques including fixed class II correctors, Powerscope and the Carriere appliance, she remains at the forefront of Orthodontics. She is an Invisalign® Diamond Provider and was an early adopter of Invisalign® treatments for teens, including the mandibular advancement feature.

Education

Virginia started her dental undergraduate training at Guy's in London in 1994 and her attention to detail and manual dexterity won her the prestigious Newland Pedley Prize for Operative Dentistry. Following graduation, she had a series of junior hospital positions in oral and maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry, Orthodontics and general practice.

She was accepted for specialist orthodontic training at the internationally renowned Eastman Dental Institute, London in 2002. During her training programme, she was awarded the degree of Master of Science and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Her work at Orthodontic Excellence

Virginia now owns the practice and has developed the team to lead the very best clinical standards and Patient Care experience. Virginia feels very strongly about the importance of our actions for future generations and is leading the team here on a green crusade. She also led the adoption of Dental Monitoring for Invisalign® and SPARK patients when it became available in the UK early in 2018. Virginia taught jointly with Dr Peter Huntley at numerous postgraduate teachings and CPD events.

Dr Sarah Franks

Specialist Orthodontist

Sarah is a Registered Specialist with the General Dental Council. She joined Orthodontic Excellence knowing that the Patient Journey reflected her own clinical high values. She works with fixed appliances, specialises in children’s appliances and works with Invisalign™ & Spark ™ both adult & children’s cases.

Education

Sarah studied Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, where she was elected President of the University Dental Student Society for 2 terms. She was also the President of the British Dental Student Association, representing the interests of students nationally. During her undergraduate studies, Sarah was awarded several prizes in recognition of her work, including the Aesthetic Dentistry and Photography prize, the Leadership and Professionalism Award, The Sands Cox John Rippon Memorial prize for best elective report and was nominated for the Dentsply Clinical Excellence Prize. Sarah graduated with Clinical Distinction, in acknowledgement of the high standard of her clinical work as an undergraduate.

After graduating, Sarah undertook placements in dental hospital posts to further her knowledge in the fields of Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, Paediatrics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, gaining insight into the management of multidisciplinary cases.

Sarah returned to the Midlands to complete her specialist training in Orthodontics at Solihull Hospital and Birmingham Dental Hospital. Following this training she was awarded a Master’s degree and a Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Sarah is committed to providing a high standard of orthodontic care to children and adults. She is often complimented by patients, due to her calming nature putting at ease anxious patients. Sarah looks forward to starting your journey to straighter teeth.

Dr Aliza Jesani

Aliza qualified in Dentistry from Kings College London in 2007. She carried out further training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and Restorative Dentistry prior to completing specialist training in Orthodontics at Kings College London. She was awarded a Masters in Orthodontics (Merit) from Kings College London and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013. Following this, she completed a further two years of higher orthodontic training at Birmingham Dental Hospital and University Hospital North Midlands. She was awarded the Fellowship in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016.
