What Are Clear Braces?
Clear braces work just like traditional metal braces: with a series of brackets bonded to your teeth, a metal archwire running through them and small elastics holding it all together. The difference is, the brackets are made from tooth-coloured ceramic.
Ceramic brackets are durable and efficient and won't stain or discolour - which means your treatment blends in with your natural smile from start to finish.
Perfect Alternative to Invisalign
For patients who want a discreet option but prefer fixed braces over removable aligners, ceramic braces offer the ideal solution - combining proven effectiveness with subtle aesthetics.

How Do They Compare?
How Ceramic Braces Work
From your first consultation to your final reveal, here's what to expect.
Clinical Examination
A specialist orthodontist examines your teeth, bite and jaw. We take diagnostic records including X-rays, photographs and 3D scans.
Custom Treatment Plan
Using your diagnostic records, we design a plan to give you the ideal smile and take time to fully explain this to you.
Brackets & Wires Fitted
Tooth-coloured ceramic brackets are bonded to each tooth, connected by a flexible archwire. The wire applies gentle, continuous pressure to guide teeth into position.
Regular Adjustments
Every 6-8 weeks, we adjust or replace the archwire. Each new wire continues moving your teeth according to the treatment plan.
Retainers Fitted
Once your teeth are perfectly aligned, we remove the braces and fit retainers to hold them in place permanently.

Ceramic Braces FAQs
Yes, ceramic braces are just as effective as metal braces. The only difference is the colour of the brackets - the mechanism and results are identical. They can treat the same range of orthodontic issues.
We use Ormco Symmetri brackets which are specifically designed to resist staining. The brackets themselves won't stain, though the elastic ties can discolour slightly between adjustments if you consume a lot of tea, coffee or curry.
Ceramic brackets are very strong, but slightly less durable than metal. With normal care, this isn't an issue. We may recommend metal braces for contact sports, if you grind your teeth or on lower teeth if they'll be in contact with your upper teeth - ceramic can be more abrasive and cause some tooth wear in these cases.
Treatment time is the same as metal braces - typically 12-24 months depending on your case. We'll give you a precise timeline at your consultation.
The brackets are tooth-coloured, but the archwire is usually silver. Most patients find the ceramic brackets are discreet enough that the wire isn't noticeable in everyday situations.
Yes, ceramic braces cost slightly more than metal braces due to the premium materials used. However, many patients feel the improved aesthetics are worth the additional investment.
