The Difference

Why It Matters

8+ Years of Training

An orthodontist is a trained dentist who has then undertaken further postgraduate study and exams, usually over a minimum of a further three years. They achieve recognition from the General Dental Council as a Registered Specialist in Orthodontics.

Specialists in Tooth Movement

Orthodontists receive specialised training in tooth movement and bite correction. They are highly educated in understanding dental development and the biology of tooth movement and jaw alignment.

GDC Registered Specialists

All our orthodontists are registered with the General Dental Council as specialists. This is your guarantee of their qualifications and expertise in orthodontics.

Complex Case Expertise

Specialists demonstrate expertise in complex tooth and jaw alignment cases that general dentists simply aren't trained to handle. They assess your facial profile and recommend personalised treatment approaches.

Advanced Technology

Orthodontists utilise advanced orthodontic technology and attend regular continuing education on industry developments to stay at the forefront of treatment options.

Dedicated to Braces & Aligners

Only orthodontists specialise in fitting braces and clear aligners like Invisalign. While general dentists may offer these, they lack the specialist expertise that comes from years of focused training.

3 Year Treatment

“Virginia and the team are amazing. My journey started 3 years ago and at the time my teeth were in a pretty poor state. I had crooked teeth upper and lower and I had an open bite. I'm in my 40's and wasn't sure if I was up to wearing a fixed brace... thankfully I did. Virginia also introduced an appliance which I wore in my palate to correct my openbite. What is worthy to note is the exceptional service I have received throughout my treatment, their attention to detail and care and support is faultless. I am so grateful to Virginia, she has given me the confidence to smile again.”

Complex Orthodontics

“The complex orthodontic treatment which I have received over nearly three years has been excellent. Dr. Peter Huntley and his team are very caring and always professional. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is thinking of having orthodontic treatment. I know that I was a challenge because I was in my late 60's when I first visited them for an assessment. After the initial consultation Peter was very positive that he could help me and I never doubted his word. The end result is beyond my expectations.”
