Oral hygiene at Orthodontic Excellence

Good oral hygiene ensures a healthy mouth and teeth, and it is important for your overall health as bleeding gums or bad breath is not only difficult to live with but could be a sign of other issues. Here at Orthodontic Excellence, we are pleased to be able to offer patients a comprehensive oral hygiene appointment using EMS AIRFLOW®, a state-of-the-art cleaning appliance.

What happens at an oral hygiene appointment?

At this session, our experienced dental hygienist will discuss your general oral health and any concerns you may have. They’ll also give you comprehensive advice on the types of toothbrush and toothpaste you should be using for your specific needs, as well as advice on other cleaning aids, such as floss and mouthwashes.

They’ll then remove any staining or calculus by using the EMS AIRFLOW® device. This type of treatment is fantastic for removing stains on teeth caused by coffee, tea, tobacco and red wine.

What is EMS AIRFLOW®?

Airflow therapy is a pain-free hygiene treatment that removes persistent stains on your teeth, plaque and other tooth discolouration using a combination of warm water, compressed air and fine powder particles.

The high-powered jet gently removes stains from your teeth, including hard to reach areas, leaving you with a squeaky-clean mouth and cleaner, whiter teeth.

Meet our Dental Hygienist, Indu

My name is Indu and I am a Dental Hygienist Therapist, Facial Aesthetic Practitioner, Clinical Speaker for Health Education England and a member of the FGDP West Midlands Division. I have joined Orthodontic Excellence as I believe in their culture of Excellence. The team strive for the very best practice here and I knew the practice was right for me!

I qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the University of Essex in 2013, and I then went on to study Dental Therapy to broaden my skill set. I have been practicing ever since and have enjoyed the journey so far. My favourite part of my role is to help patients to be more confident about their oral health and to build relationships with them and monitor their progress.
